Many of us desire change in our lives, whether it’s to improve something, increase or decrease something. However, change is challenging because old habits and routines tend to resurface easily.
This can happen at the individual level, group level, or systems level. As we attempt to develop new practices, we are often pulled back towards old habits and routines.
To facilitate change, it’s essential to start by developing new practices that can become habits with time and commitment.
It’s important to remember that everyone is susceptible to reverting to old ways. Therefore, implementing systems that help to develop and form new habits is crucial.
Designing your environment is a more effective approach than relying solely on willpower or self-determination.
By building systems in place, we work against the tendency to revert to old habits and increase the likelihood of achieving our goals.
I go into this topic in more detail in a series of e-books I have written. Hope you enjoy.
