During a recent coaching session, I was reminded of the difference between a jumpstart and a restart.
My client was struggling with motivation, and I discovered that he was demotivating himself with his self-talk.
He kept referring to his situation as a restart, even though he only needed to rebuild a specific process in his business. This made him feel overwhelmed and bogged down.
I helped him see that he was actually doing a jumpstart, not a restart.
Most of his business was staying the same, and he only needed to rebuild a part of it to improve things. This simple reframe changed his perspective and made it seem like less work, which in turn, made him feel more motivated.
This experience highlights the importance of framing an issue or problem in a way that empowers, rather than demotivates you.
As a coach, my role is to provide perspective on your perspective and help you reframe your challenges.
If you ever feel like you need some reframing, feel free to reach out. It can make all the difference in the world.
